O’Connor Capital Partners
is a privately held, independent real estate investment firm focused on
principal investing through private equity funds. O’Connor concentrates
its efforts on making direct investments in high-quality assets in major
metropolitan markets in North America and Europe. Over the past 20 years,
the firm has acquired or developed more than $10 billion of property on
behalf of various investment funds, institutional clients, and its own
account, encompassing all major property types.
O’Connor was founded in 1983 by Jeremiah W. O’Connor, Jr.
and began as an investor and developer of high-quality regional malls.
During the 1980s, O’Connor Capital Partners (then known as The O’Connor
Group) acquired and developed over ten million square feet of regional
mall properties including The Westchester in White Plains, New York and
Menlo Park, in Edison, New Jersey. While expanding its retail operations,
the firm also established an investment advisory business that acquired
and managed core portfolio assets for separate account clients. This business
unit managed over $5 billion in assets, with investments across all property
types including retail, office, industrial, lodging, and multifamily.
In the late 1990s, O’Connor sold most of its shopping center holdings
as well as its investment advisory business and now focuses primarily
on principal investing through private equity funds. Since 1994, the firm
has managed real estate private equity funds with over $1.4 billion in
capital commitments that have made investments with a gross value of over
$5 billion. In 2004, O'Connor began investing for O'Connor North American
Property Partners, a $500 million fund focused on direct investment in
property in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Focused on North America and Europe, the firm is headquartered in New
York with regional offices in Mexico City, London, Milan, and Luxembourg,
staffed by over 60 employees.
